Jobeda-ThreeSistersPRESS RELEASE – For immediate release

Jobeda Ali is named amongst the 100 most influential Bangladeshis in Britain.

The 2013 British Bangladeshi Power100 was unveiled on Tuesday 22 January 2013 at the House of Commons. The 2013 list is the second publication of the BBPower100 which is a celebration of leading British Bangladeshi figures who are helping shape Britain for the better with their ideas, example, talent and success.

Jobeda Ali, CEO of Three Sisters care, said:

“It’s humbling to be included in a list of people who are shaping society, from artists to politicians to entrepreneurs. The Judges recognised my achievements in my previous social enterprise, which worked in advancing women through media and for my consultancy work with government and private corporations. The list also mentions my work as a filmmaker, so I think it was judged as a positive influence to be visible as a Bangladeshi  woman in mainstream media. To me this is very welcome progress for this community where growing up we were prevented from following our dreams and were expected to conform, marry young and have no career. Twenty years on, we are celebrating high achievers in a massive diversity of fields, and that I think is excellent progress. Currently, my two sisters and I have just launched an adult social care company, Three Sisters Care, that looks after older people and adults with disabilities in Tower Hamlets, but it’s also an opportunity for advancing our community through the latest social enterprise ideas for employee and community development. My plan for the future with Three Sisters Care is to continue working with the less educated women in the Bangladeshi community to help them become more independent, achieve agency and gain influence within their families, their community and in society as a whole.”

Cllr. Abdal Ullah, Founder of BBPower100 said:

“The publication of the 2013 BBPower 100 reveals more talent, inspiration and success from the British Bangladeshi community. We aim to highlight and celebrate the strengths and dynamism of this often overlooked community.”
